The Friends of Dame Laura Knight Society,
Malvern & Colwall Branch

Our aim is to promote awareness and celebrate the paintings of Laura and Harold Knight, particularly in the Malvern Hills area.

The Branch has been in existence for 10 years and membership is now more than 100. We have many more supporters locally. We have developed strong links with artists and organisations who promote the arts in this area. Amongst these are M.D.F.A.S., MU3A, Malvern Museum, Worcester City Art Gallery, the Autumn in Malvern Festival and, wider afield, the Lamorna Society.

Laura and Harold Knight were painters with national and international reputation who lived and painted in Malvern between 1931 and 1961, when Harold died in Colwall.

When this Branch came into being in 2008 memories of the artists in this district had diminished. A group of interested people considered it time to revive their reputation and promote their image again. We modestly believe that this has been achieved, along with national reappraisal of their work.

This website aims to give immediate information to anyone interested in these significant English artists, about our events and activities and other related attractions. It can be read in conjunction with the official national website. Members of the Branch are available to give illustrated talks on the artists on request.
